opening
a door to the future...
An
attic is defined as "floor consisting of open space
at the top of a house just below the roof; often used for storage."
When
homes were built with abundant attic space, families stored
old things there they could not bear to part with -- books,
pictures, furnishings, toys, maybe a hand-cranked Victrola long-since
replaced by one that plugs into an electrical outlet.
Liberty
Fund D.C. has an attic full of reminders of what we have done
and what still needs to be done. The Liberty Team is combing
it for potential supporters and inspiration. Climb the steps.
Join us. But watch for the spirits, and don't let the bats scare
you away. Come back often. Each time you'll find something new
in the past.
Sit
down on the floor beside us. Lift the lid of the old gray trunk.
Reach in and take a trip into our past. Welcome the spirits of
liberty-seekers into your mind. Please excuse the clutter. In
that condition, spirits give their best performances.
As
you return to the living level, do take away some knowledge and
some determination from the past. Every
name and every document you find in the attic bears a clue that
offers this project the future it deserves.
Be
sure to remind past supporters that it is okay to embrace the
liberty-seekers again.
But
leave the bats
behind.
