Joseph W. Dooley
Joseph
W. Dooley is currently a Vice President of the Virginia Society,
Sons of the American Revolution. The Virginia Society will
host the SAR National Congress in Williamsburg in 2007, and
Joe is Chairman of the Virginia Society 2007 Congress Planning
Committee. In this role, he has shepherded through the Virginia
Society Executive Committee, the authorization for the Virginia
Society to have a medal struck, commemorating the 400th anniversary
of the settlement at Jamestown (1607-2007). On the SAR National
level, Joe serves on the Genealogy Committee, the Medals &
Awards Committee, and a few others. He is also the chairman
of a new National SAR Committee for Black, Indian, Hispanic
and Women Patriots, formed by the current President General
of the SAR, Roland Downing. Joes own Patriot ancestor
was Morris Earle from Hackensack, New Jersey. Morris was only
a nineteen-year-old soldier when he fought at the Battles
of Brooklyn and White Plains, and was later taken prisoner
by the British. After six months, he was released as part
of a prisoner exchange. Morris later served in the defense
of northern New Jersey. Joe graduated with Distinction from
George Mason University, majoring in English and History,
and he pursued graduate study at the University of Virginia.
He works as an energy analyst for the Federal Energy Regulatory
Commission.
